Nigel Crowdy, Resource Manager at training and consultancy specialists Purple Griffon, on how using Regus meeting rooms contributes to the company’s success

When Purple Griffon needs a meeting room, there’s one company it turns to: Regus. The Cumbria-based training and consultancy firm – which specialises in running technical training courses around the UK, primarily in IT management – has been using the flexible workspace provider for more than a decade.

With more than 3,000 business centres in 120 countries globally, Regus can provide a ready-made corporate space at a location, time and a price that suits, whether it’s a permanent office, co-working set-up or, in Purple Griffon’s case, meeting rooms.

“We run many courses onsite for clients, but we also run a comprehensive schedule of public courses, primarily in London,” says Nigel Crowdy, Purple Griffon’s Resource Manager, who is responsible for the smooth running of these courses. “We use Regus venues for the public courses. This relationship has been in place ever since I joined the company in 2010.”

The breadth of the Regus network is a big draw for Purple Griffon. “We try to work from one main Regus venue (currently Devonshire Square, near Liverpool Street Station), as this reduces confusion for the delegates, tutors and, frankly, for me, as I have to make sure that materials, exams and other essential items go to the right place,” explains Crowdy.

“Over the years we have had several different bases and the fact that Regus has so many venues in London means that if one ceases to be available, there is another suitable replacement nearby,” he continues.

“We also use Regus venues for provincial courses in places such as Leeds, Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham – we would struggle to find another provider with spaces in London and around the country.”

It isn’t just Regus’ convenient, central locations that are an attractive proposition. When hosting a meeting at a Regus space – whether a presentation, interview, client pitch or training – businesses can be secure in the knowledge that they’re welcoming clients to a thoroughly professional environment.

All meeting rooms are fully equipped with facilities (flip chart, whiteboard and markers), furniture, high-speed internet and a staffed reception. Catering, a coffee service and projection equipment are available if required.

“The Regus staff build up a good rapport with our trainers and know what equipment will be needed, when breaks will occur and so forth,” says Crowdy.

Any of the meeting rooms, conference rooms and boardrooms – available by the hour – can be booked quickly and easily using the Regus app, though an efficient, friendly team is at the end of the phone or an email, too. Something Crowdy can attest to.

Particularly advantageous to Purple Griffon is Regus’s customisable workspace solutions, even when plans change at the last minute.

“Delegate numbers on our public courses can be as low as two or three to as many as 16, which we regard as a sensible maximum,” Crowdy says. “We have an arrangement whereby I keep the booking team updated with delegate numbers, so that there are no issues with room size. As you can imagine, running public courses we don’t know until very late what the final numbers will be, so it’s important that there are no surprises either for us or the venue.”

The service doesn’t stop there. “In addition to the support we receive from the venues and the booking team, we also have a dedicated Regus account manager who is on hand to help iron out any snags that might arise on a day-to-day basis,” continues Crowdy. It’s fair to say that, apart from keeping in regular touch about bookings and delegate numbers, I don’t have to worry about the venues, as things run along nicely on their own.” So all Purple Griffon and its clients need do is show up on the day and get started.
